Merry Christmas

Man, have we had an eventful Christmas break so far! Rhys has enjoyed it and can not wait to finish spending the weeks off with friends and family. Here are just a couple of pictures to hold you over from Christmas. Soon, I will post the pictures Uncle Jason took for Nonnie and Nana and the pictures from Rhys meeting Marley and Rhys and Marley playing together! Fun is had by all!

This is right before we started opening presents! Rhys was so excited to see what everyone had!

Nonnie and Paw-paw bought him this car, I think that by far this is his favorite toy! We bring it everywhere and he loves crawling all over it and playing!

At this point I think that Rhys was on toy overload!

These blocks that Uncle Jason got us taste so good! :)

More to come soon! Today Marley came to play with Rhys and tonight we are going to go out to the camp to see everyone one last time, before we leave to New Orleans for the week and Marly goes home!

Tough Times

My poor baby is getting three teeth at one time! Talk about some sleepless nights! He has one in the front that just broke out a couple of days ago, then the one next to it is all swollen, so it is about to come out and then his has another one on the left upper side. It looks like an incisor tooth! This kid grows teeth like there is no tomorrow! His nose is all runny, and he is so drooly--it is almost disgusting!

We went shopping the other day, early in the morning figuring Rhys was up and he was going to want a nap around 10ish, so we could go out at 8ish, get some shopping done, and we would be home for when he wanted to take a nap. Ya right, the little peanut fell asleep during the car ride and when we got to Kohl's woke up. Jared walked him inside and he was awake, we put him in the basket and gave him his blanket. This is what we got......

That's right, he is passed out! It was so funny. Of course, Jared and I kept doing things to see if he would wake up, but he didn't! He must have been so tired. I guess getting up early in the morning with a belly full, he was ready for his nap!

Here is a cute video of him shaking his head. It is his newest thing to do. It isn't that great of a video but you can see his new teeth at the top!

Christmas Time is here

Well it is definitely Christmas time around our house! The tree is up, decorated and with lights--it took us a little while to get there due to us being so busy! Rhys isn't too interested with the tree and has been leaving it alone! Whoo hoo on that one. I am sure next year he will be all over it though.
Rhys has been getting around pretty good with the crawling. He is trying to walk around and and is holding onto everything to walk. He has started standing up on his own and is getting pretty good at it. His new favorite thing to do in the kitchen is to pull out all of the Tupperware and crawl into the cabinet. He is such a mess!!
Boy does Rhys love his daddy! It is so funny, when Jared walks away from him he starts to cry and follow him wherever he is going.
Last week we went to some friends of ours house. Jared played Santa Clause for all of the kiddos and Rhys was watching him get dressed. We had a lot of fun over at the Calaway household and it is a pretty cool tradition to do for the kiddos. Enjoy the pictures of Rhys with Santa! We are super excited that this weekend we will finally meet our friend Marley and we will get to see Brett and Bethany! It is going to be great being around them and having Rhys and Marley play together!

Such the Life

I have been to update the blog several times and then the last time I had everything typed in and the pictures in and I went to post it and there was nothing there! Ugh...imagine the frustration! Ha.....
Things around here have been pretty hectic. Well, I was off for Thanksgiving but Rhys and I have a packed time that whole week. It didn't help that he was still not feeling well, so he wasn't himself. We spent time with Tyler and the girls. It was a ton of fun. We also went to visit Aunt Amy at work, and I know that she enjoyed that! Mom also had to work some because she is a slacker and waits until the last moment to put in lesson plans!

Thanksgiving was great, I was a horrible mother though, I forgot to take pictures all day and then when I went to take them, Rhys had already passed out. This thanksgiving was fun though, we stayed here but on Wednesday night we all (Jared, Rhys and I and then Amy, Randall and Tyler) stayed the night at my parents house. Jared and Randall got up early in the morning and smoked a turkey. We went to church, and then spent the day together. It was awesome! Rhys thoroughly enjoyed his first thanksgiving eating much of what was on Jared's plate. He definitely likes real food more than his baby food. I personally am enjoying this, because it is super easy to have him sit at the dinner table with us and eat food while we are eating dinner without one of us stopping to feed him. On Friday, Jared stayed home with Rhys and Tyler while Amy and I went shopping. It was awesome....we found some really great deals. Then Saturday morning we went to Herman Park downtown and rode on the train and played around. It was so much fun, and I can't wait until Rhys is older and we can take him back there. I think that he would really enjoy it a lot!

We hardly ever get mommy and Rhys pictures!

This is my favorite picture!

Since Thanksgiving, we have been so busy. Last weekend I went on another ACTS retreat and Jared stayed home with Rhys. The other part of that is that his sister went on the retreat as well, and Jared kept her girls. So Jared had Rhys, Katrina, and Marisol last weekend. Surprisingly, my house was still in good shape when I came back. He did a good job so I guess that means that I can leave him at home more often!

We finally got our Christmas tree up. Here are a couple of pictures of Rhys with the Christmas tree and with the dog. Boy does he love Maddox, and Maddox is finally starting to warm up to him. Hope you enjoy the pictures and maybe I will get better about posting...until next time!

Ugh, and wouldn't you know that at the end of this and after everything, I have lost two pictures that I thought I downloaded. Oh well it is good night time!

Ugh....

Man, I know that it has been a long time since we have updated the blog but there has been a lot going on and then we were sick. Well, Rhys and I were sick, Jared seems to have skipped out on being sick.

Rhys officially crawling around. Into everything, pulling books off the shelf and trying to read them, trying to stick is fingers in electric sockets, emptying the dog bowls, the list goes on and on. While on one hand, I am super excited he is crawling around, man things were so much easier when he would just sit in one place and play with his toys. He is also trying to stand up. He will crawl to an area and then pull himself up, today he was trying to take a couple of steps while holding your hands. My little man is just getting bigger and bigger too fast.

We have been sick around here for the last week. Rhys has had a stuffy nose, and cough for a while now, but they kept telling us that it was allergies, teething and just being a baby. Well, this past week we had take him to the doctor because his temp spiked up to 102.3. Not good. It didn't help that he had spent the night with Nonnie and Paw-paw and paw-paw got sick with the H1N1 flu. Yep that is right...mommy was officially worried. Rhys ended up testing negative with the H1N1 flu, but showed flu like symptoms. So we were placed on antibotics and a decongestant. Boy is he doing much better.....almost back to his normal self! Then, mommy got sick, but man I married a good man, because he took care of both of us!

The little man has decided that baby food is discusting. I can't really get him to eat it. It doesn't matter how much I try he just doesn't want it. However, cut something up and put it on his tray and bam he is all about feeding himself. Talk about a little stubborn kid. He is getting pretty good at eating cooked carrots, bananas, noodles, and anything else I cook. I am a little hesitate to break up any type of meat for him to eat. It just makes me nervous, although he did like the fish we cooked the other night. Other than that things are pretty quiet around here. I am enjoying my time off with Rhys right now and I know that it is going to be hard going back to work in a week! Well here are some pictures that I know you all want!
Here is when Rhys was starting to get sick. If you look closely you can see the huge snot bubble he was blowing. It was cracking him up because when he was breathing it would get bigger and then smaller. He thought it was the greatest thing. Only a boy....

When he got really sick, all he wanted was to be held. So here Jared was relishing the moments that he had with Rhys wanting him to rock him.
Here are a few pictures that Uncle Jason took of Rhys and Tyler the other day at the park. We got a lot of great shots and Uncle Jason did a great job!

Family Day!!

We spent the whole day together today! Jared had to go into the office so Rhys and I decided to go with him. After the office we went and walked around downtown. It is getting to be so pretty down there, they really are doing a lot to improve the area. Rhys total enjoyed the waterfall and the pictures in the flowers.

This was at Babies R Us, trying to decided on a Christmas outfit.
At daddy's office--he is sitting in Jared's chair at the computer!

Prayers, prayers, prayers

This week, a co-worker of mine lost their 3 month old child. Definitely put a lot of things in perspective for Jared and I. I have to say---you should keep your loved ones close. Kiss them before they go to bed, tell them that you love them before they leave in the mornings. Make sure that the petty things in life don't keep you from loving them.

This weekend we are staying home for once. I can't wait until we have nothing to do and no one to see. Hope things are great for everyone else.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween to everyone out there! We spent the day at the Fall Festival at the church today. Came home went Trick or Treating around the block and now are watching the UT game! Whoo hoo! Enjoy the pictures because that is what you all want!

Oh we have another tooth! Whoo hoo!!! Now we only need some teeth on the top to even things out.

Here we are at the begining of the day. Rhys was pretty happy.

In the bouncer with Tyler!

On the Fire Truck with Uncle Jason

At the end of the day...man was it time to go home

But there is always a little bit of time for tailgating!

And here it is....time to put on the costume....yep here he is the cutest frog on the block. Rhys was being a little difficult at first and kept trying to pull his frog head off.....

Eventually he was pretty happy about it!
Hope you enjoy the pictures! Happy Halloween!

Rainy Thursday

Things here have been super busy--I seem to not have enough time in the day to get things done for myself, let alone take tons of pictures of Rhys and post them on the blog! I don't have much to say so I will get onto the pictures.

Oh. Rhys has a tooth! About two weeks ago I stuck my finger in his mouth and low and behold there it was. He is pretty guarded with it and usually sticks his tongue over it. But it is there. And he is trying to crawl and pull himself up on things all the time. He will get onto all fours and then start rocking back and forth. Most of the time he just pushes himself backwards. I will have to add the video of that later! Jared and I need to watch Flash Forward.....

More pictures to come after Halloween!!!!!!

UT Football

As you can tell we have already taught Rhys the importance of College Football, especially Longhorn football!

More to come later!

To My Friend Marley

Marley,

My mom really meant to post a lot earlier but she has been really busy and I got sick on top of that. I am going to try to recap everything for you, but I am only a couple months old and well my memory is that of an old man. (Just like my dad).
I have been sitting up a lot lately on my own. The lady from the daycare says that I am the strongest baby she has there. I don't really roll around to get places but I have figured out how to scoot on my bottom. That is pretty cool because then I can get the toys that I want without having to scream for them. When I am on my tummy for tummy time, I figured out that I can push with my feet to get something, you just have to dig them down onto the ground a little bit and it will help you to shoot forward. It is pretty cool, I moved around the rug the other day. I also love playing with my toes and getting my feet. My mom thinks it is funny when she is trying to change my diaper and I move around. We play a game when she changing my diaper. The other day my dad told her that I need to get some of my hair cut, so they cut it. Have you ever seen the movie Dumb and Dumber? Well, I looked like I could have been in that movie. It was awful but it is finally growing back out.
Things have been very exciting and busy around our house. My mom went back to school and I started going to the daycare every day. And because of that I get to spend some time with my dad in the morning.....just the two of us, I really like that. Then in the afternoons my mom picks me up and we do all sorts of things together. Sometimes we have to go back to school because my mom has things to do. Just this last week we went back for Faculty Follies. It was so funny to see her and her friends on stages acting silly. I laughed a lot.
Oh, my Nana and Paw-paw moved into a new house this summer, so we have been spending a lot of time helping them get everything put together. Hopefully we will have lots of fun parties over there. Maybe they will even boil crawfish or crabs for me to eat, who knows.
On top of everything else I got sick. I know, it is early but I was sick with a cold and then on top of that I got a stomach bug. It was not fun. I am not one to complain, and I like my bedtime and sleep but it is so hard to sleep with an upset stomach so I had to keep mommy and daddy up with me a couple of nights. I finally had to go to the doctor to get it checked out. They put me on some medicine to help the diaper rash---all the poop hurts after a while---and I couldn't drink my formula and they had to stop feeding me my cereal and food. I was upset but things are back to normal now. I sure bet my parents are happy about that one. Next week my mom said that I can start eating carrots, hopefully they are as good as she makes them out to be! Oh and when I was at the doctor they said that I was 16 pounds and I was 28inches. That means that I have been doing a lot of growing.
So Marley, as you can see I have been pretty busy and keeping my parents on there toes. Mommy and daddy said that you are going to come to Texas for a visit and I can't wait. I was thinking that maybe we can crawl around the camp and look at all of the places our dads used to hang out. Maybe we can do dinner....what do you think? Not a date though, your dad scares me. Here are some pictures to show you what I have been doing.

Here I am at Katrina's game. It was really hot out that day and the sun was super bright.

This is my activity center. I usually sit in here when my mom is cooking dinner.

Sometimes I am happy--but see what I am talking about with my hair. Imagine it pushed forward and I could be in the movie.

My dad was trying to get me to smile for him but I decided to spit up instead. He caught me in the act.
I am getting to be so big. My mom and dad said I was growing up too fast. Who knows. Here I am playing with my feet. They give me great entertainment when I am in my crib waiting for someone to come and get me. Sometimes I think they are waiting to see if I will go back to sleep!

I can't wait to see you at Christmas time. Hope everything is going well for you and your parents, oh and the dogs too.

Love,
Rhys
